How to navigate around UMPIRE SCHOOL ONLINE

February 3, 2010
So!
Here we go gang! Pitchers and Catchers report soon. Florida, California and many other southern states are starting up with High School and College ball. And I’m already hearing from many new umpires who ordering DVDs and joining “Bugsynation.com” (umpireschoolonline).

As you can see, I decided to stay with the original pricing and keep everything at a great “Walmart deal”, so to speak! LOL

New videos coming, more DVDs, all kinds of stuff coming.

Still snow on the ground where I’m at, (Minneeeeesoooota!!) but that won’t stop me.

Vic is in warm Florida, he’s no dummy! Frank is probably got snow and we also want to welcome our newest Staff “expert” member, Mr. Tony Maners; and I think Tony is in Florida right now working some ball. More info on Tony coming soon.

So, I’ll be in touch and don’t be afraid to start asking PRESEASON questions, that’s what we’re here for!!

April 16, 2009 – Frank Leparik, Power Team Member with a great article! Check it out.

April 16, 2009 – Bill Szabo with a Z! Well, that’s what I say but you actually pronounce his name with the Z silent, “Sabo”. Everybody around here in Minnesota has heard Bill’s name from me a bunch of times but you guys and gals out there might not know. . . . . .Bill is our technical advisor and has been with me with my project of UmpireTeacher.com from day one. He’s my favorite “pain in the butt”. Why do I say that, because I want him to be!! A lot of his advice from a media standpoint, he doesn’t know it yet but changes are coming based on his advice. Good stuff to help you, the member, enjoy UmpireTeacher.com more!! Thanks Bill Szabo with a Z!! ~Bugsy~

April 12, 2009 -Vic’s Corner -New Article

Good Afternoon
Here in Florida its 83 degrees and beautiful and Baseball Fever is all around me.

We are fortunate here because there is a Baseball Diamond on every corner (Like Walgreens) and the little guys get an early jump on their cousins up north. I think that is the primary reason a lot of Major League players live here in Florida.

The Spring Training camps will be breaking soon and the teams will head north to start the season…all of this takes place in the next 10 days. That also means the highways down here won’t be as congested because the “snowbirds” will also be leaving.

Today I want to talk about umpiring mechanics. -read on-

April 4, 2009 – “Dropped 3rd Strike” has been updated on Video. I’ll be adding more soon. For AAA Level and higher click here. For AA Level, click here.

March 29, 2009 – I’ve added a link for everyone to be able view the ONE UMPIRE SYSTEM flash lessons as individual lessons.  On the TOW page, they are put on one lesson but together in one 20 minute (approx.) lesson.   The link above gives you a chance to see each lesson one at a time.

March 25, 2009Pete writes another good review, this time on ball bags.

March 23, 2009 – from Bugsy
Hey everybody check out the fun Vic and I like to have.

March 22, 2009 – from Bugsy
Hi Gang, hey listen out there! Take advantage of the fact we’re all lucky to have Vic Voltaggio available to us.   Post or email questions to Vic about what it was like to be on the road in the Bigs, the earthquake World Series or who’s your favorite manager, etc. REALLY gang, and I don’t say this because he’s my friend, I say the following because I’ve checked all the different Major League Umpires history and resumes AND Vic Voltaggio is definitely a “Hall of Fame” umpire! He had emaculate timing on the plate, handled situations with the best of them and was and is a great example for umpiring. ~Bugsy~

I begin my inaugural column with a tip of the hat to my old friend Bugsy, whom I had the pleasure of meeting in St. Petersburg at the Joe Brinkman Umpire School a quarter century ago. When I discovered Umpireteacher.com – on Ebay of all places – I stepped up in hopes of offering some concepts for achieving success in this avocation that we love.
  • I am confident that my experiences, gleaned from 31 seasons of partnering, instructing, and mentoring all types of personalities, will benefit most any umpire.  Power Team Member Frank Leparik says a thing or two about moving up. . .

Good Morning,

Today I want to talk to you about one of the most controversial aspects of MY
GAME! Ejections….Ejections have been happening since Abner first put two teams
on the field and then decided he needed someone to control them……..keep reading

Good Morning,
I am now home in Florida but not for long. I will be leaving for Tennessee this evening on business so I wanted to get this article out before I left.

The Spring Training camps have opened in Arizona and Florida, the weather is finally starting to warm-up here and it’s about this time of year that I start to get that “Old Itch” I was programmed for 24 years to come out of hibernation, pack my equipment and head south (I lived in New Jersey) to get ready for the upcoming season.

The first couple of years after I retired (I retired in1996 but lived in Florida since 1992) I would try to attend a few Spring Training games just to feed my habit…It didn’t work, I would find myself watching the umpires and not the games.  I had some friends that would call me for tickets and that got old real fast so eventually, I stayed away altogether.

I still get autograph (umpire cards) requests and from time to time some young umpire will write me asking about a particular play or something.
I always make it a point to answer them because I still remember what it was like when I first strapped it on.   READ ON
